Installation failed

Error message: The installation failed due to an error. Contact the manufacturer of the software.

The error message The installation failed due to an error. Contact the manufacturer of the software can have several causes. 

  1. Your MacOS version is older than 14.5
    For the installation of Casablanca you need at least MacOS 14.5. In case your OS is older than that, check if you can update your current one.
  2. You are using iCloud, OneDrive or another cloud storage solution
    If the installer lies within the iCloud oder OneDrive directory, it can cause the installation to abort. In case your have the installer in such a directory, please copy the installer to another directory outside of the cloud directory and try the installation again. 
  3. You are behind a proxy 
    During the installation, the installer needs to communicate with our server and a proxy can block that. In case you are using a proxy, turn it off temporarily and try the installation again.

 

If none of these are the reason for the failed installation, feel free to contact us and send us your installation logs. Your Mac records all installation logs automatically, therefore we only need to extract the ones related to Casablanca. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Search for the terminal application and open it. A text-based terminal should open.
  2. Type the following command and hit Enter: 
    cat /private/var/log/install.log | grep "Casablanca Virtual Camera  Installation Log" -A 1000 > Desktop/installer.log
  3. This should create a file called installer.log on your desktop. If you send us this file, we can try to find the cause of the problem.
